S.H.A.P.E.S. started in the Spring of 2000. S.H.A.P.E.S. was formed when the Slater High School Alumni and the Slater High School Teachers came together and decided that the school system needed greater financial support than is possible through the tax base. This alumni association was considered to be a way to involve people who are most interested in maintaining the school, who are not considered just parents and residents of the district.
