Mike Venable has served the Slater School Board for 12 years. Mike says he enjoys seeing the improvements that have been made to all the buildings and classrooms, as well as, seeing the students and staff getting along and doing well. He also likes to make sure the board money is used wisely. Mike would like to see the future goals of Slater to include: improving test scores, more students in the A+ program, more ground source heating and cooling and the continuation and addition of benefits for teachers and staff. Mike is supported by his wife of 30 years, Robyn, and three sons Aubrey, Lon, and Whitney, all of which are Slater High School alumni. Mike would like to leave these words of wisdom in the minds of Slater students, "Get involved in classes and after school activities because the time really goes by fast. Enjoy your time in school and get to know everyone you can because down the road, it will benefit you in a lot of ways."
